One of the most difficult things I have found about following a restricted diet such as SCD is being able to eat at restaurants. I enjoy the social aspect of going out for a meal, but it can sometimes be overwhelming to try to explain to a server that I can’t eat anything that has gluten, grains, soy, refined sugar, starchy vegetables, corn…the list goes on.
I usually end up ordering a plain grilled or baked chicken breast with steamed broccoli and paying a ridiculous amount of money for it. Again, I know I’m going out for the social aspect, I just wish I could also enjoy the eating aspect of restaurants once more!
So, I’ve decided to start a new series on the blog called A Life of Eats, where I’ll be talking about my experiences at restaurants. I’ll be sharing things like how accommodating they are, how the food was and any tips or pointers I picked up while I was there that might help you have a better dining experience.
